The entity placing cookies on the end device of the Portal’s user and obtaining an access to them is the operator of the Portal Telewizja Polska S.A. with headquarters in Warsaw, at 17 Woronicza Street, 00-999 Warsaw. Portal tvp.pl does not automatically collect any information, except for information contained in cookies files. Cookies (so-called “cookies”) they are IT data, in particular text files, which are stored in the end device of the Portal user (for example computer, smartphone, tablet) and they are intended for using the websites of the Portal. Cookies allow to read information contained in them only the server that created them, in this case Telewizja Polska S.A. Cookies placed by TVP S.A. contain the name of the website they come from, their storage time on the end device and a unique number.
The purposes for which cookies are used
Telewizja Polska S.A. uses cookies for purposes of:
- adaptation of the content of the Portal websites to the user's preferences and optimization of the use of websites; in particular, these files allow to recognize the device of the Portal user and properly display the website, tailored to his individual needs;
- creating statistics that help to understand how portal users use websites, which allows improving their structure and content;
- maintaining the portal user's session (after logging in), thanks to which the user does not have to re-enter the login and password on each subpage of the portal;
- remembering the interactions that have been taken, e.g. responses given to internet surveys;
- providing users with advertising content more tailored to their interests
Types of cookies
Due to the purpose of cookies, the following types of cookies are used in the Portal:
- necessary cookies, enabling the use of services available on the Portal, e.g. authentication cookies used for services that require authentication within the portal;
- cookies used to ensure security, e.g. used to detect fraud in the field of authentication within the Portal;
- performance cookies, enabling the collection of information on the use of the Portal's websites;
- functional cookies that allow to "remember" the settings selected by the user and personalize the user interface, e.g. concerning the selected language or region of the user, font size, website appearance, etc.;
- statistical cookies used to count statistics regarding websites;
- advertising cookies, enabling providing users with advertising content more tailored to their interests.
The end user may agree to store cookies coming from the Portal on his or her end device by means of the software settings installed on the device used by him or her, e.g. laptop, tablet, smartphone.
In many cases, the software used to browse websites (web browser) by default allows the storage of cookies on the device used by the User. Portal Users can change their cookie settings at any time. These settings can be changed in particular in such a way as to block the automatic handling of cookies in the web browser's settings or inform about them each time they are placed in the user's device of the Portal.
It is worth remembering that restrictions on the use of cookies may affect some of the functionalities available on the Portal's websites.
Each User has the option to change the settings of the cookie browser. This functionality is available in the software settings (web browser).
